Art has been woven into the fabric of my life since birth.

In fact, art is woven into the fabric of your life, too. All you have to do is look around you, play a video game, watch a film, or buy an appliance. One chair looks different from another chair because a designer made it so. The length of a skirt, the color you see everywhere, that thing on your keyring. Art informs almost every single aspect of your life today. Most people just don’t notice.

Here I publish articles about art theory and art history, with occasional essays about a specific artist or period. It is not typical for me to distinguish between diverse forms of expression. Those forms which are the standard fare of galleries are here.

Today, the Mona Lisa is an algorithm.

It’s been coming for decades. The tiny word “media” has evolved to absorb, well, everything – from films and graphic novels, to architecture, and soon, humanity itself. Media began as a simple little word meaning a container, or vehicle, for transporting something. It took on new life with the advent of the printing press and photographic camera. Soon, media became the transport for all human knowledge. Its home address is the internet, poised to also be the residence of choice for the sentient machines born of it.

I created this website over two decades ago. At long last, I will be using it to publish articles about the topics that consume my interest. In due time, I may even organize my writings into a cohesive volume.
